Author, Foodie, Critic, and all around awesomeness. That's me!

Hello, everyone! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Amber Romina Cassell, I'm 25 years-old, I've lived in Los Angeles all my life, and I'm a writer.

Now, I know what you're thinking: "Big deal. So is everyone else in L.A. If you're not a writer, you're an actor...or worse, you're both." Well, you can all relax. I'm not an actor. But I am a big deal! (Just kidding) And also I know that every single writer is going to tell you the same thing about their work: "My stuff is different." But, as you all get to know me, you'll realize that when I say things, I mean them. I am different. "How?" you might ask...well, for starters, I've written the world's first musical novel.

Calm down, calm down. None of the characters in my book randomly breaking out into absurd song and dance numbers, although for those of you musical theater fans out there, that might not be considered such a bad thing. What I mean by "musical", is that the story is about a singer, so what better way to have my protagonist express herself than with a song or two?...or twelve.

So its a book with a soundtrack. Kinda cool, right?

No, I didn't compose the songs. I dropped out of piano lessons when I was in 3rd grade, much to my teacher's delight. The current draft of the novel, however, does contain my pathetic attempts at lyric-writing, which someday when I'm feeling silly (subtext: drunk) enough, I'll share them with you and we'll all have a good laugh. Thankfully, my best friend Jennifer Stuler happens to be a remarkably talented singer/songwriter and much to your relief, she is the one in charge of the music. You'll be hearing me rave about Jen ad nauseum, because there just aren't enough minutes in the day to express how incredible the girl is and privileged I am to be working with her. See for yourself! http://www.myspace.com/jenniferstuler

If it isn't obvious already, I'm something of a theater-phile. Call it force of habit. I worked my way through college as a theater critic, so my thirst for live entertainment has become instinctual. Animalistic, inherent. Unfortunately, here in LA, the theater world isn't as prevalent as it is in New York, so I've decided to bring Broadway to me and the rest of you playhouse deviants marooned in this west coast wasteland. So check out the blog here on this site which is devoted to bringing you the most exclusive, up-to-date happenings in LA's theater community.

So stay tuned, folks! Things are about to get pretty exciting and hopefully it'll be a journey that we'll all enjoy taking together. Feel free to check Jen & I out on Facebook and Twitter as well! We love meeting new friends!
